In 1920, after returning from North America, Filipino entertainer Luis Borromeo established the inaugural Filipino bodabil company. He named it "vod-a-vil," which eventually gained popularity under its Filipinized name, Bodabil. This rich dark purple hue, accentuated by a vibrant green sheen, recalls the vivid costumes worn by harlequin figures.
