The Namiki Chinkin Collection collection is finely crafted by a select group of maki-e Kokkokai artists in Japan. The Chinkin Collection is made up of fountain pens which use “Chinkin (Gold Inlay)”, one of lacquer ware techniques that Japan boasts to the world on a par with Maki-e. Motifs are carved into the lacquered surface with special chisels, and after inlaying lacquer in the grooves, placing gold leaves and gold powder gives the pattern expression. The delicate and fine depiction and three-dimensional aspect overflowing with a strong power of expression are the special characteristics of this collection. Since Chinkin is a carving technique, there is no room for mistakes. Every single carve is a true challenge in the sense of the word. The Namiki Chinkin is similar in size with the Yukari has a #50 18k gold nib. It fills via Pilot/Namiki cartridge/converter. You will find one black Namiki cartridge, one CON-70 converter and a blue ink bottle included.

In this maki-e Chinkin design, the dragon is depicted exactly how the Japanese folklore describes them with a refined serpentine body, three visible claws and a ferocious face. The dragon is seen holding a round, circular jewel which is said to bring good fortune.
