Catching a glimpse of a shooting star dart across the sky is indeed a rare occurrence. For those lucky enough to bear witness to this natural phenomenon, it is the perfect opportunity to cast one’s dreams out into the Universe. Yet, how did this act of wishing on a shooting star come to fruition? We explore the legends and beliefs that lay behind this enthralling event, which serves as an inspiration for the latest Benu Talisman design, the Shooting Star.

As you probably know, shooting stars are not really "stars" at all. Comets and meteors have mesmerized the human race since they were first spotted in the starry night sky. Upon spotting a shooting “star,” even if just for a split second, it is a common custom to make a wish.

In the hopes of fulfilling your biggest dreams, Benu infused meteorite stone powder into the sparkling resin of the "Shooting Star" fountain pen. After charging under natural sunlight (or LEDs and desk lamps), the pen's body and cap can glow in the dark. Write down your wishes and intentions with the stainless steel nib, available in F, M, or B sizes. The Talisman fountain pen uses either international ink cartridges or a standard converter, both included to start.
