Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Benu Tribute collection? +
Each design pays tribute to a creative inspiration, from painters like Monet and Cézanne to Rose de Mai, the prized rose of French perfumery. Every pen in the line is cut from high-grade decorative resin and features a fluted cap modeled on ancient Greek columns. Benu, the Armenian maker behind it, hand-finishes these pens, which are all fitted with a #6 stainless steel nib.
What designs does the Benu Tribute fountain pen come in? +
You have nine designs to choose from. The artist trio, Monet, Cézanne, and Matisse, maps each painter's palette onto the resin. Monet is luminous blue, Cézanne is earthy green and brown, and Matisse is violet with fuchsia and rose. Alongside them sit Rose de Mai, the hand-painted Christmas Carol and Noel in Snow, and two Pop Art Capsule pens, Wow! and Pop!, which wear comic-book graphics. The Goldspot Exclusive Tribute to the Wanderer rounds out the line.
Which nib size should I choose for a Benu Tribute pen? +
Fine or Medium for everyday writing, Broad for a wetter line, and a 1.1mm stub or Elastic Fine when you want line variation. Most designs use a Schmidt unit for Fine, Medium, and Broad and a JoWo unit for the stubs and Elastic Fine. The Schmidt and JoWo units are not cross-compatible, so match any replacement to the nib unit your pen shipped with. Options vary by design (Noel in Snow comes in Fine, Medium, and Broad only), so check the selection on each pen.
Does the Benu Tribute use cartridges or a converter? +
Both. Every Tribute fills with standard international long cartridges or a converter, so you can stick with the ink you already love. Load up on replacement cartridges, or browse the Benu refills and accessories collection for nibs and other Benu-specific items.
Can I post the cap? +
Yes. The Wanderer, for instance, runs 7.21 inches posted, but with the cap off is 5.48 inches long. Posting adds real length and shifts the center of gravity away from your fingers toward the webbing of your hand, so try it both ways and see what you prefer.
How durable is the resin Benu Tribute pens are made from? +
Acrylic resin is a tough material, and on the shimmering designs the color runs through the resin itself, so normal handling won't rub it away. Like any resin pen, it can scratch or chip if it takes a hard knock. The hand-painted designs deserve a little more care, so we'd give those a soft pen sleeve.
What makes the Tribute more expensive than Benu's other fountain pens? +
You're paying for what goes into the finish: the decorative resins are more intricate than many of the pens in Benu's wider collection, and several designs, including Noel in Snow and the Wanderer, are hand-painted. The Wanderer is a numbered Goldspot Exclusive, adding collectibility to the price on top of the materials. Mechanically, the Tribute uses the same #6 steel nib and standard international fill mechanism you'll find in the rest of their collection.
Is the Benu Tribute an everyday pen or a collector's piece? +
The Tribute is designed to be both. The resin is durable enough for regular use, and the standard international filling makes it easy to ink, clean, and rotate like any working pen. What puts it on a collector's shelf is the fluted cap and layered pigments. As a Goldspot Exclusive, the Wanderer in particular earns collector status.
How do I know a Benu Tribute fountain pen is authentic? +
By buying it from an authorized dealer. Every pen we sell is genuine and backed by the manufacturer's warranty, so you don't have to gamble on a gray-market product. If you buy a Benu elsewhere, check that the seller is listed as an authorized retailer and that the nib, resin, and packaging match Benu's own product photos.
