The Visconti Homo Sapiens is the fabled "grail pen" that is sought after by many pen enthusiasts as a top-level achievement in their hobby. There's a number of reasons why that is so: the soft, wet, and smooth 23kt palladium "Dreamtouch" nib, the generous size, and the pen design constructed using the divine proportions.
In 2017, Visconti aims to make the Homo Sapiens model more approachable for collectors by changing two key factors of the Homo Sapiens - 1. the body material and 2. the filling system. The Homo Sapiens Elegance collection is crafted from solid black, lustrous acrylic resin, giving the pen a lighter weight. Instead of the vacuum power-filler or internal piston mechanism for the fountain pen, Visconti replaced it with the convenient cartridge/converter system.
With these changes, the price point becomes more attractive. Instead of a $695 retail, the oversized maxi version of the Homo Sapiens Elegance is $595 with the medium, "midi" size coming in at $450 ($550 normally).
Arguably, the most important part of the pen, the 23kt palladium "Dreamtouch" nib has not been changed out to any lesser of a nib. Pen fans can still expect the same fluid writing experience, but with a significantly lesser price tag.
These pens are expected to arrive sometime in May and will be available at goldspot.com. Matching capped rollerball and twist-action ballpoint will also be available. You can personalize this pen using the Visconti "My Pen System" to replace the Visconti medallion that is on the finial of the cap with your selection of two initials. We provide this as a complimentary service if you ask or put notes in your website order.
