Tokyo's humble roots began in the 12th Century as a fishing village called Edo. In 1603, the Tokugawa Shogunate established the city as a center of power. Edo became one of the most populous cities in the world, topping one million by the mid 1800s. In 1869, Emperor Meji moved to Edo and the city of Tokyo was officially established in 1889. Since then, the city expanded into a metropolis, has one of the largest economies, named the "Most livable city in the world," has the most Michelin stars of any city in the world, and will host the 2020 Summer Olympics.

This limited edition Retro 51 Tornado Rollerball pen is screen printed in a "Dynastic Blue and Red" color palette with highlights of Tokyo's most famous landmarks. These highlights include the Rainbow Bridge, the Imperial Palace, the NNT DoCoMo Yoyogi Building, Mode Gakuen Cocoon Tower, Tokyo Toyer, Senso-Ji Temple, Mori Tower, Tokyo Metropolitan Building, Shinjuki Park Tower, Midtown Tower, the Tokyo Skytree, and the majestic Mt. Fuji in the background. When the lights go out, the Skyline Pen glows in the dark.

Each pen is individually numbered on the top ring. The top disc on the knurled twist knob features a meme-worthy illustration of a Shiba Inu (a Japanese breed of hunting dog). Each pen is packaged in a commemorative tube with matching artwork.
