The Conklin Pen Company was established in 1898 in Toledo Ohio USA and promptly changed writing instruments forever when it patented the self-filling pen known as the Crescent Filler now recognized as the worlds first practical self-filling fountain pen. In 1903 Mark Twain the legendary American author began his relationship with the great American pen manufacturer and became its official spokesman.

One thing Twain would not have envisioned given the technology of the era was a crystal clear pen where one could see the filling mechanism in action and watch as the ink filled the stomach. Now for the first time in the long history of the Crescent fountain pen a crystal clear limited edition demonstrator version has been successfully produced. To achieve this feat many technical hurdles had to be overcome. Not only must the barrel be polished inside and out but internal parts must be finely finished and care taken during the final assembly process to eliminate dust glue and other unsightly artifacts.
