Three Cheers for the Laban Celebration

Laban is no stranger to the fine writing instrument industry. In fact, they've been producing high quality, affordable pens and accessories since 1981 and continue to do so today. Each pen is crafted from fine, durable materials in Taiwan and exported over for US distribution.

The Celebraton model is among their most colorful and comfortably priced so you don't have to just pick one. The pen's silhouette is mostly cylindrical, with a slight taper toward the end of the barrel. The ends may look like a flat-top at first blush, but they are slightly rounded. The dome of the cap finial sports a silver Laban medallion.

The beautiful range of acrylic resins are the star of the show in the Celebration collection. They are hand-turned from rods of solid pearlescent, marbled acrylic. Each color has unique properties like chatoyance (the cat's eye sheen you might see in the light), a contrasting whirl or a slight bit of translucency. Each pen is finished in chrome appointments and clip. A stainless steel nib, either in all steel or bi-color gold-plating, is fitted into the fountain pen mode. A ballpoint and rollerball option are also available.

The Celebration fountain pen is of a standard size. The capped (closed) length measures 5.5" long. Unscrewing the cap to reveal the stainless steel nib, the pen's uncapped length is 5.125" long. Posting the cap securely on the back-end, the pen elongates to 6.625" long. Aside from the metal clip and cap band, the pen is mostly constructed from the colorful acrylic through and through. The pen feels comfortably light in hand, making long writing sessions easy and pleasurable.
